QUARTERLY GOALS UPDATED

Good stewardship is emphasized during our financial literacy curriculum in Jobs for Life, and it's a concept we take seriously around our office. To that end, we set program-specific goals and track our progress toward those goals on a quarterly basis. We've updated our Progress Report through the end of the second quarter, so take a minute to check our grades!

Lagniappes

la·gniappe [ lan yáp, lán yàp ] (plural la·gniappes). noun. An extra or unexpected gift or benefit.

We've been so blessed since unexpectedly receiving the HOPE Award for Effective Compassion (Southern Region) from WORLD Magazine. The lagniappes have been plentiful, and we're grateful for every one. Here are a few of the blessings we've seen:

* We've been blessed to see how MANY of you have voted to help us win the National Award! Some of you have even taken the time to encourage your friends to vote. Thank you for your efforts! (There is still time to vote here!)
* This week we received a call from an entrepreneur who is opening a new Subway Cafe in St. Francis Hospital. After seeing the article about Advance in World, he decided to hire our Jobs for Life grads for his new store -- 10 of them!
* An executive at FedEx saw the article and sought us out for volunteer opportunities. He just happens to be an expert in leadership training!
* We received a letter this week from a prison inmate who saw the World article and was inspired by Advance's story. His letter inspired us! Take a minute to read it on the blog.
