Becoming a Volunteer

As a Christian, faith-based organization, we request that mentors for Work Life and Faith and Finances provide a simple statement of faith. See ours here. However, there are many volunteer roles open to individuals of any religious heritage. We are grateful for the support of volunteers of diverse faiths.

Volunteer Opportunities

WORK LIFE ALLIES

  • Mentor a small group of Work Life participants for 5-weeks of class and as participants pursue employment

  • Relationships encourage application of God’s Word in all of life

  • Meets on Wednesdays from 9:00 - 10:00 am and you are invited to stay for lunch

  • Contact Lizzie at emiller@advancememphis.org to become an Ally

FAITH & FINANCES ALLIES

  • Mentor Faith & Finances students in the area personal finance for 12 weeks

  • Offer relationships, accountability, and support for using finances in God’s Kingdom work

  • Meets on Thursdays from 5pm - 7pm and dinner is provided

  • Contact Kelsey at kdees@advancememphis.org to be come an Ally

 

MEAL PROVIDERS

  • Provide meals for Work Life classes, graduations, and Faith & Finances classes

  • Contribute more than just a meal that allows participants to focus on learning, as well as stimulate fellowship and relationship-building that is vital for transformational change.

LAUNCH ALLIES

  • Provide small business and start-up assistance to LAUNCH entrepreneurs while this class is temporarily on hold.

  • Engage, empower, and encourage students and graduates with expert advice

  • Help from ideation, with development of business plans, and to Pitch Night

MOCK INTERVIEWERS

  • Advise Work Life participants on basic interview tips and provide feedback on resumes in preparation for their actual job interviews

  • Mock interviews are held on the last Thursday of Work Life class from 9:30am to 11:30am

  • Contact Lizzie at emiller@advancememphis.org to become a mock interviewer

 

ART FOR JOBS VOLUNTEERS

  • Contribute to the success of our annual Art for Jobs fundraiser in a variety of ways: marketing, procuring art, recruiting sponsors, and staffing the event.

  • Must be 18 year of age or older unless previously discussed.
